Food Sensitivity Testing

  • Quick and reliable and conducted during your consultation.
  • Finger prick with results in 40 minutes.
  • I can help you identify and remove reactive foods from your diet and you could be feeling better in a matter of days.

The majority of adverse reactions to food are rarely life threatening, but may be a source of considerable discomfort in many chronic conditions and diseases. The symptoms are varied and individuals can react in different ways. Many people live with minor or major symptoms of adverse food reactions for years without ever suspecting the involvement of the immune system and the foods which trigger them.

Symptoms

Food sensitivity reactions may be the result of enzyme deficiency, histamine releasing effects, altered intestinal permeability (e.g. leaky gut) or pharmacological effects. Food sensitivity is often given a low priority in the investigation of disease. If you have any of the following symptoms you could be suffering from food intolerance. Food intolerance sufferers can also experience more than one symptom at the same time.

• Anxiety (acute or chronic)

• Arthritis

• Asthma

• Bed wetting

• Bloating

• Bronchitis

• Coeliac Disease

• Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

• Constipation

• Diarrhoea

• Fibromyalgia

• Gastritis

• Headaches

• Inflammatory Bowel Disease

• Insomnia

• Irritable Bowel Syndrome

• Itchy skin problems

• Malabsorption

• Migraine

• Sleep disturbances

• Water retention

• Weight control problems

The Test

Food Detective™ is a simple finger prick blood test for food antibodies (IgG), which can be done at the Natural Health & Nutrition Clinic with results obtained within 40 minutes. IgG food sensitivity testing interpreted in relation to a case history and other test results, is an efficient and reliable method for diagnosing individuals with adverse reactions to food.

If the Food Detective™ test shows any positive reactions, it means you likely have an elevated antibody reaction to that particular food indicating your body’s intolerance to it. Reactions can be mild, moderate or strong.

If you have a lot of positive results, it can be a very overwhelming task trying to cut out everything whilst maintaining a well balanced diet. By working together, I will advise you on how to eliminate certain foods from your diet and which foods you should substitute to ensure that you do not result in any nutritional deficiencies. I will also offer support and encouragement with regular progress checks, as it can be quite a daunting task sticking to a new diet on your own.
