What makes InBody Body Composition Analysers the most accurate?

InBody Australia technology is backed by over 50 patents and certifications worldwide, with evidence from hundreds of extensive scientific studies. It is the only machine with 98% correlation to the DEXA scan across a variety of populations and body types including children, elderly, obese and athletes. No other machine was able to be compared due to their usage of empirical data in the overall result. When characteristics of a certain group is to be studied they are not valid for research data due to the intentional values within it. (age, gender, body type, ethnicity, elderly, athlete’s pregnant woman etc.). Empirical estimation exclusion technology that can calculate the body composition for sole impedance, rather than base results off previous captured data, is exclusive to InBody technology.
Empirical data
InBody does not use empirical data – therefore providing the most accurate individual results for you! Empirical estimation is the process of including averages in calculations. Such measurements that can be used in body composition analysis are age, gender, ethnicity and sometimes body type. Estimating these factors decreases result sensitivity, therefore bringing difficulty in monitoring accurate body composition change. On any other machine, change your gender, age or body type and see your results change dramatically – yet you have not changed at all. This empirical estimation exclusion technology is exclusive to InBody.
For example, on any other BIA machine, if you were to enter a different age or gender and re-test yourself, you will get a different result. Yet YOU have not changed! With InBody, you could re-test yourself 5 times with a different age and gender input, yet your result will still be the same.

InBody has a patented 8 point tactile electrode system which incorporates specific thumb point and palm technology. InBody separates the thumb and palm placement, unlike other machines that rely on two palm placements only.
Having two points on the palm can change the starting point of voltage and current based on common variables such as hand placement and the size of a hand. This can dramatically change the scan results and reproducibility of each scan.
The patented thumb point and palm technology exclusive to InBody creates highly reproducible data by fixing the starting location of current and voltage, regardless of hand placement.

InBody is correlated to be 98.4% as accurate as the DEXA (Duel-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry) scan across a broad spectrum, non-standardised population including children, elderly, obese and athletes. This is of paramount importance as standardising data produces inaccurate results. It is for this reason that the use of empirical data is not seen in medical research. InBody has been used extensively throughout medical and scientific research worldwide.
Trunk Measurement
InBody is the only machine that directly segmentally measures the trunk. As the trunk occupies the largest volume on the body it is of vital importance to scan correctly for accurate results. All other machines simply estimate it. This is evident by the impedance values shown on each scan. Lack of technology requires other devices to estimate the trunk which is a significant point as it reduces accuracy significantly.
